Jamaat meets with head of political wing of US embassy

Jamaat-e-Islami held a meeting with the head of the political wing of the US Embassy in Dhaka. The meeting discussed the party’s views and position on democracy within the party, transparency in party decision-making, and the rights of women and minorities.

The meeting also discussed the trial of the massacre in the July mass uprising, various reforms, the upcoming national elections, and the current situation. In addition, Jamaat’s role in the movement to establish democracy in the country and against terrorism and extremism was highlighted in detail.

The meeting was held at the US Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon, a press release from Jamaat said.

The embassy’s political wing head Matthew Baer was accompanied by two other colleagues and Jamaat’s Nayeb Ameer Syed Abdullah Md. Taher and Central Executive Council member Matiur Rahman Akand were present in the meeting.

It is worth noting that the second phase of discussions of political parties with the National Consensus Commission was held today. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami did not participate in it.
